Developer Sloclap has rolled out the beta version of the second major update for its competitive football game Rematch, addressing long-standing netcode issues and other gameplay bugs. Version 1.200.200 is now available for testing, with a full release planned for August 18, 2025, across all platforms including PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Key Netcode and Gameplay Fixes

The update primarily targets core netcode problems that have frustrated players, such as tackles not registering correctly and goalkeeper dive rollbacks allowing goals despite clear saves. In the beta build, only 3v3 Quick Match, 5v5 Quick Match, and Customization with default items are available. Modes including 4v4 Quick Match, Ranked, Store, and Battle Pass are temporarily disabled to focus on testing these fixes.

Other improvements include:

  • Tackle enhancements: better network resolution and rollback handling.
  • Goalkeeper fixes: corrected rollback issues, procedural animations added for realistic arm movements, and invulnerable goalkeepers now cannot be tackled outside the keeper area.
  • Ball Touch system rework: improved visual accuracy without affecting gameplay mechanics.
  • Animation improvements: smoother player movements, reduced walking speed, and fixes to defensive animations.

Achievements are also being refined. Players will now unlock achievements retroactively once they reach new milestones, such as advancing one more level to unlock Pro and Elite achievements.

Additional Updates and Bug Fixes

The update also addresses a wide range of minor but impactful issues:

  • Crashes fixed: including crashes after replays and in Freeplay when joining online matches.
  • UI improvements: better customization menus, store display fixes, and enhanced HUD for objectives.
  • Gameplay polish: reduced camera shake on successful ball steals, corrected ball positions, and optimized pause menu load times.
  • Audio fixes: various sound bugs resolved, including ball trail effects and VR-specific countdown issues.

Even cosmetic and rendering elements received attention, with improved lighting for player cards and goal celebrations, better GPU performance on low/medium settings, and fixes for missing or displaced meshes and animations.

Crossplay and Future Updates

Sloclap has confirmed that work on the third major update is already underway. This upcoming update will tackle remaining known issues, implement cross-platform multiplayer, and introduce additional gameplay tweaks. It is expected to release in late August 2025.

Known Issues

Despite the improvements, several issues remain, including occasional animation cancellations, ball desync after reconnecting, inconsistencies in goalkeeper invulnerability visuals, and rare crashes on PS5. Players may also encounter minor UI misalignments and ranking display errors in specific situations.

Rematch continues to evolve as Sloclap addresses player feedback and optimizes competitive gameplay. With crossplay on the horizon, the game looks set to become more accessible and enjoyable for its global player base.
