Napoli star looking to prevent Chinese takeover

Napoli star Dries Mertens aims to keep Belgian second division side OH Leuven out of the hands of Chinese investors. Together with fellow Belgian investors Mertens believes their offer should be enough to acquire the side that currently sits in 7th place in the second division.

“we have reached an agreement with a group of investors that are willing to work together in acquiring the club.

Together we believe we can ensure for stable grounds for the club to build on, without the influence of foreign investment, and with the ambition to become a stable force in the top 12 of Belgian football”

OH Leuven relegated from the ‘Eerste Klasse’ last year and now find themselves back in 7th place in the second tier. Mertens does not have any active history with the club, but was born in Leuven and did play for fellow Leuven side Stade Leuven.
