Royston Drenthe decided to call it quits around the start of february this year. Despite the fact the Dutchman (29) has now started his carreer as a rapper, he recently got an offer from a Chinese club. Drenthe could have earned a fat paycheck in Asia but decided to reject the offer.
“This week I received a Facetime-call from an unknown number. When I picked up there where about 3 Chinese people sitting on the other end. You have to come to play with us. You fly tomorrow. A second division club, but the offer was around 800.000 a year. My uncle said: what does your heart say, my friend? Well, don’t do it, I resonsded immediatly. Life is all about being happy and you can make money in anything these days.” Drenthe said in an interview with Nieuwe Revu.
Drenthe recently decided to switch carreers to become a rapper. As of recently the former Everton and Real Madrid player goes by the name of Roya2Faces. “if there is a specific moment in which I knew my footballing days were over? No, I was pretty much done for a long time. My ambition was dead.”
