According to Turkish media outlet ‘Fanatik’ Turkish giants Besiktas are interested in signings Shandong Luneng and Brazil international Gil. According to the report the club has already been in contact with Gil’s agent to start up talks between the parties involved.
It is known that during the current transfer window Besiktas are actively looking to reinforce their ranks, and mainly their defensive positions. Now they have shifted their interest to the Brazilian centre back currently active in the Super League.
The 29-year old defender joined Shandong Luneng from Corinthians on a 8,5 million euro fee last January, but has not impressed the Luneng staff this season. Despite his lacking performance Gil has been called up for international duty for his native country Brazil, and even started in the recent Copa America.
If Gil would insist on signing for the Turkish side, Shandong Luneng would not be able to buy a replacement as the Super League transfer window has closed already. This combined with the fact Luneng are currently fighting against relegation, makes it unlikely the clubs officials will be eager to sell Gil.
