Eran Zahavi is one of Guangzhou R&F’s latest additions, but has already become a fan favorite. The Israeli striker has now scored six times in four games for Guangzhou and is quickly becoming more popular. And with the busy schedule Guangzhou have coming up he has more opportunity than ever to prove himself.
After last weeks Super League fixture Zahavi took some time to sit down with local media. It is no surprise the 28-year old was in a good mood, as he had just guided his team past competitors Tianjin Teda by scoring twice in their 3 – 2 win.
“Coming to Guangzhou R&F is the right choice for me at the right time. I do not think I have been performing at my best yet, but my new teammates are very positive towards me and support me a lot – I am very happy here.”
“I am looking forward to the upcoming Guangzhou derby” Zahavi said.
The Guangzhou derby takes place on the 20th of this month and will be Zahavi’s first. The derby has a reputation of getting very heated – both on and outside the pitch. If the striker manages to carry his team in this game once again, he will become a legend for the R&F side of town.
Guangzhou R&F have a very hard schedule coming up as they play four games this month – including the Guangzhou derby. After this they will take on another giant in Shanghai SIPG with their new record signing Hulk, and play against CSL newcomer Yanbian Fude who are doing exceptionally well.
With the AFC cup quarter-finals also on the calendar they are faced with an enormous challenge. Now with Eran Zahavi in their ranks Guangzhou do look up for it and this month could very well be the most important one of the season.
