Jiangsu Suning today announced the arrival of a new addition to their defensive ranks. With the signing of the FC Augsburg and South-Korea star Jiangsu are hoping to stay in the race for the Super League top spots. Neither of the clubs involved disclosed a transfer fee, but Hong Jeong-Ho is being valued at 2,5 million euro’s.
The 26-year old defender joined FC Augsburg in 2013 from Jeju United. In Germany the central defender got on the pitch in 39 official games. In Jiangsu he will either play next to, or replace Trent Sainsbury.
With the signing of Hong Jeong-Ho Jiangsu currently have five foreign players + 2 AFC players registered in their squad. Earlier today we reported the Super League side also officially announced the arrival of Roger Martinez from Racing Club.
This does mean that - because of the 4+1 rule - Jiangsu will have to cut two foreign players. The most likely option would be Sammir, as the ‘Brazil-Croatian’ is far from a first choice for the Suning owned team.
Who the other player to go would have to be is still very uncertain. Rumors are that with the partnership between Suning Group and Italian giants Internazionale it has become more likely for Ramires to move to the Serie A.
