OFFICIAL: Jiangsu Suning sign Colombian international

Today Jiangsu Suning announced the arrival of Roger Martinez from Racing Club. The Colombian centre forward was on loan at Aldosivi last season and will now join the Chinese Super League. Jiangsu payed a reported transfer fee of 8 million euro’s.

The transfer comes at somewhat of a surprise, as none of the usual media picked up on this untill it had been made official. Earlier today Argentinian Racing Club posted on their official website that Martinez had been sold to Jiangsu Suning.

The 22-year old has been loaned out twice by Racing Club over the past seasons. For Racing club the striker got on the pitch in 24 official games - scoring 5 times. For his native country of Colombia Martinez - who’s full name is Roger Beyker Martinez Tobinson - played a total of 4 first team international matches, scoring once. He was more succesful in Colombia’s U23 squad where he got a total of 5 goals in 4 games.

Martinez himself expressed the desire to prove himself in the Chinese Super League. This is no strange fact by itself, where it not that rumors are Internazionale are interested in the striker. Inter, also owned by Suning Group, will probably have a first option in taking over Martinez his contract in a few years.

With the arrival of Martinez it is clear Jiangsu will need to clear up an foreign player spot. It is being said that Sammir will be the foreign player to get cut but this has not yet been made official.

Other notable fact is that Racing Club negotiated a 10% share in the next transfer fee Jiangsu Suning might get for Roger Martinez.
