TRANSFERS: ‘Manchester City stars on Beijing Guoan list’

Local Manchester news channels reported today that Super League team Beijing Guoan are looking to shop at Manchester City. With a newly appointed coach in the figure of Guardiola and the Citizens visiting Beijing next month, Guoan feel this is the right time to start negotiations for some of City’s stars.

The names of the players in questions are not clear at this moment but Beijing Guoan left no question that they will be coming after the Manchester sides ‘top players’.

City head to China next month as part of their pre-season tour and will face Manchester United in Beijing in the International Champions Cup. Guoan could take that opportunity to make their first move.

Eric Gao - the man behind the ICC - claims no one is out of reach.

“Beijing Guoan have drawn up a short list of top players from Manchester City who interest them.”

“I cannot tell you any of their names as it would not be the opportune time to do so.”

Speaking to Agence France Presse, he added: “I am working closely with the Beijing and Shanghai clubs on targeting players.”

And

“The players would make more money at Chinese clubs.”

Certainly some of the names involved are out of reach, even for the powerful Super League side. Recently Yaya Toure rejected an offer to sign in the CSL and others like Sergio Aguerro and David Silva are on record stating they are happy to stay in Manchester.

Samir Nasri linked to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan.

For others the interest from the far east might be a very welcome way out. Former fan favourites like 41-time French international Samir Nasri or recent record-signing Eliaquin Mangala are weighing heavily on the Citizens salary budget but would be mostly used by Guardiola to keep the bench warm.

With an uncertain future ahead these stars could make for a great target for prosperous Super League sides on a shopping frenzy. Midfield maestro Nasri would be a treasured star for any of the football crazy local fans. And it is no secret that CSL sides including Beijing are browsing for leaders to strengthen their defenses.

Eitherway it is certain both Premier League sides and Chinese fans have very busy and exciting times ahead. With the draw of the Super League ever growing fireworks are guaranteed.
